About Yolanda R. Bynum

Yolanda R. Bynum is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University and holds a BA in Psychology with a minor in Elementary Education. Yolanda also holds a Master of Science in Leadership and Organizational Change (MSL) from Pfeiffer University. Yolanda is certified in Nonprofit Management by the Office of Continuing Studies at Duke University. As a result of her professional training and over 15 years of experience, Yolanda provides consultation and trainings regularly for executives, youth, professionals, youth serving agencies and individuals.

Yolanda served as the Director of Out of School Time Programming for Bethlehem Center of Charlotte.  There she provided strategic oversight of the elementary, secondary and adult education programs.  Prior to her time with Bethlehem Center of Charlotte, she served as the Learning and Development Specialist for Charlotte Mecklenburg Library where she oversaw staff development and training, as well as provided support for organizational development initiatives.  Before joining the Library team, Yolanda served as Sr. Program Director of School Age Initiatives for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte where she provided leadership for the youth learning team and the national office at Y USA in the area of summer learning loss prevention.  Before joining the YMCA, Yolanda was the Regional Director of Youth Programs for the YWCA Central Carolinas and an elementary school teacher in Forsyth County Schools and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Reared in small-town Pinetops, NC by her parents Barbara B. Williams and Reverend Jack L. Bynum, along with her 3 beautiful sisters, Yolanda currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Yolanda is motivated and driven by the words of Oprah Winfrey, “The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you're willing to work.”
